About the Broads

Erin and I met in the fall of 2010 and immediately discovered our mutual love for traveling. One of the first emails EC ever sent me was titled "maybe the longest email you will ever receive from someone you just met" and included travel updates to her friends from her last trip abroad.

We were planning on taking this trip in 2012. I wanted to call it "Countdown to Armageddon." EC didn't come up with a silly name for the trip. But you know, one thing leads to another and suddenly the time table changes and you're practicing camping in your backyard because there are only six weeks before you leave. Happens all the time.

EC

I grew up in the midwest and was always intrigued by stories of far off and exotic places like 'New York' and 'San Francisco'.  I made it a goal as soon as I could drive that I would visit all fifty states by the time I was 25, and I still haven't achieved that goal...(damn you, North Dakota).

In my professional life, I'm a chef and I've lived and worked in kitchens all across the country.  I have a bachelor's in business that I hope to someday make a little bit of use out of.  I love exploring new places and trying new things - especially when those things involve food.  And I get very grumpy in the morning when I haven't had any coffee.

S(teph(anie)). Bru(ce).

I was born in Brazil, but moved to the garden state at the tender age of 5. Until that point my american dad couldn't get me to speak english. After the move, my brazilian mom couldn't get me to talk to her in portuguese. Holidays have always meant flying to another continent, instilling a love of traveling and eurocentric vacations. I'm trying to branch out.

I graduated with a degree in classics (ancient greek, not chaucer) which has been very useful at jobs as a taxi driver, water tester, customer service rep, door to door evangelist for a non-profit, event coordinator, public relations hack, copy writer and sales analyst. After 10 years of high level rugby, I decided that verbal abuse was better than physical punishment and became a referee. I think i'm hilarious but sometimes I'm a jerk.
